Terms of use

Our terms and conditions comply with UK legislation and are designed to ensure that our customers can shop easily and with confidence with hobkirk.­­co.­­uk.

International Orders
Whilst this website is designed with UK customers in mind, we welcome enquiries from customers in other countries. Prices include UK Sales Tax (VAT), currently at 20%, which may not be payable by customers outside of the UK; however, additional delivery charges will apply. Please telephone 01254 693555 or email info@hobkirk.co.uk and we will do our best to assist. Please note we are unable to supply Janome branded products outside the UK and Ireland.

Payment
You may pay by any major credit card or debit card if ordering online or by telephone. We also accept bank transfers. International customers can only pay by bank transfer. Please do not send money in the post.

Product Availability
Items in stock are dispatched within 1 working day of us receiving your order (excluding Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays). If any of your chosen items are out of stock, we will contact you to advise you of this. If you are still happy to go ahead, we will then order them from our supplier. This generally takes no longer than 7 – 10 days however we will make you aware of a time frame when we initially call. Please note that an indication of such dates is an estimate only, this may be subject to change without notice, and does not constitute a contractual obligation by HOBKIRK SEWING MACHINES LTD to supply goods by a certain date. However, if availability is unduly delayed, we will use our best endeavours to keep you informed. Please note you will be contacted first to check you would like us to order your goods or if you would prefer a refund.

Product Delivery
Orders to the UK mainland are sent by Royal Mail 1st class, Royal Mail 1st class signed for, DPD next day delivery or HMT Pallets.

If ordered before 2pm, your order will normally be dispatched the same day. In some circumstances this may not be possible due to an item being out of stock or if there are issues with the courier collection. Royal Mail 1st class should arrive within one working day (excluding weekend and bank holidays) however this is not guaranteed. Orders with a value over £50 will be sent by Royal Mail 1st class signed for where a signature will be required upon delivery. In exceptional circumstances, we ask that you give orders dispatched by Royal Mail up to 14 days to arrive.

If your order is over 2kg or includes oils and sprays, this will be dispatched by DPD next working day delivery. A premium Saturday delivery is available for an additional postage charge, if this is something you would require please make contact before placing your order.

Extra-large / heavy products such as industrial sewing machines will be sent via HMT Pallets. The pallet will be delivered to your chosen address and the driver will lower the pallet from his lorry outside your premises. At this point you will be responsible for the pallet and its contents. An adjustable spanner and scissors will be required for taking industrial sewing machines off their pallets.

We regret that we are unable to specify exact delivery times for courier services however you should receive tracking information via text or email if your order has been sent by DPD.

Product Images and descriptions
Please note that the colour of images shown on this website may be affected by the technology used to access it. Whilst we do our best to faithfully reproduce colours, some variation may occur.

Accepting orders and security
When you place an order, either by telephone or in writing, we will treat it as an offer to buy. If we accept your order, we will send you a confirmation e-mail with your order number, at which point we make a legal contract with you. However, we will be entitled to refuse to accept your order if we feel it necessary, in which case we will e-mail you as soon as we can to let you know.

When you receive your e-mail confir­mation, you will have an opportunity to check the details and correct any errors.

In deciding whether to accept your order we may use the information you have given to us, or we already hold about you, or which we receive from any enquiry we may make with various agencies, to confirm your identity. This assists us to protect you and us from fraudulent transac­tions. If we decline your offer on security grounds we may contact you to seek an alternative payment method or to advise you to visit our store.

Cancel­lations / Returns
We are pleased to offer a fair and equitable returns policy, which is in addition to your statutory rights.

Should your purchase disappoint you in any way, you may return your order, provided you notify us before or within 14 days after delivery. Your product must be complete, unused and in 'as new' condition (e.g., if you have opened the box to examine the product you must have done so without damaging or marking the product in any way). It should be returned at your cost with the original box, packing and accessories.

If for any reason your order arrives damaged or faulty, then please contact Hobkirks within 72hrs of the delivery, we will then be able to help resolve the issue accordingly.

Please note: we do not accept returns on anything that is cut to order. Should your order arrive faulty or damaged, please contact us to discuss replacement products.

If you wish to cancel your order at any time, please call us on 01254 693555 or email info@hobkirk.co.uk before your order status is changed to ‘shipped’.

Transit Damage
All packaging is examined in detail by ourselves prior to despatch to ensure that it leaves our warehouse in perfect condition. However, transit damage unfor­tunately can occur. If your purchase is showing obvious signs of transit damage upon delivery, please refuse to accept delivery and notify us immediately. If damage is only evident upon opening of packaging, then you must inform us within 72 hours of receipt. In either case, we will then arrange re-delivery of replacement goods as soon as possible.

Legal
Sales on this web site are governed by English law and you agree to submit any dispute to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts. All orders are subject to these terms and conditions and no amendments will be accepted by us. These terms and conditions do not affect your legal rights.

These terms and conditions only cover the HOBKIRK SEWING MACHINES LTD web site. Any other web sites to which you link from this site may be governed by their own terms and conditions. We accept no respon­sibility or liability for the content of web sites which are not under our control.

We are required by law to tell you that sales can be concluded in English only and that we do not file copies of customer contracts.
