This company are second to non in merchandise and service . I have just bought a Juki DX7 sewing machine and the technical and practical knowledge of Steph was fabulous . I would recommend this company to everyone I know!
My old embroidery machine was unrepairable, so a new one was needed. Elaine explained all the ones available, and after I'd decided on the one I wanted I went for a tutorial. This was also with Elaine. She was very knowledgeable and explained the machine brilliantly to me. I am delighted with the service I received, and delighted with my new machine. The £25 I paid for estimated repair costs of the old machine was deducted from the price of the new one.

I purchased a JUKI DX7 from Hobkirk Sewing Machines on 12th January and I absolutely love it!! Tatiana helped me to choose and spent the best part of two hours demonstrating and letting me try various machines. She was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and patient. I was a bit nervous of purchasing an electronic machine as I have never owned one before. The machine I was using was a 40/50 year old inherited singer. All I can say is I wish I had upgraded sooner.
10/10 to Tatiana and Hobkirks for outstanding service. I would definitely recommend purchasing a machine from here. Forget the major on-line stores you need to try before you buy and support local businesses.
My machine needed attention, promptly and courteously checked by Stuart. Whilst there I investigated other machines, the retail staff were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Perused the store, so much to see, always inspired when I visit this store. Thank you Hobkirk team.
Hi there, I just wanted to drop a quick message because I had such a great in store experience at the weekend - Elaine, really was great. I came to purchase my first sewing machine - Janome HD2200, based on a recommendation I came to the store to look at the machine, Elaine offered such knowledge and technical skills, the introduction to the machine she delivered made it less daunting and also gave me a confidence boost that I do actually know a little bit about sewing, I was so happy and confident I was making the right purchase. Elaine also advised on the correct accessories for my needs as i'm going to be using the machine to support my upholstery as well as cushions and seat covers etc… I really do speak so highly of my experience in store and have already discussed my time at Hobkirk's with my peers at the upholstery class. Thanks again, I really did feel like nothing was too much hassle and I left in such a great mood on a rainy miserable Saturday afternoon. I’m hopeful that perhaps the sewing classes may eventually return as I would defiantly enjoy another trip to Blackburn.
Visited the shop in person looking for a replacement for a much-loved Brother sewing machine. Service was fantastic and staff were happy to show me and demonstrate a number of machines before I settled on a new one. I came in to collect a few weeks later and again found staff to be helpful and attentive. Will definitely be returning for supplies and any future machines
From start to finish great service and a great products, I have just bought my 2nd machine from Hobkirk’s - we are a carpet retailer and we use their overlocking machine and also a great new sawing machine with a walking foot and a customised folding attachment for wide size carpet binding ! These machines Make such a easy job of creating a quality finish to our rugs, runners, and samples - Thanks to mark and his team.
I purchased an ex demo model Stellaire XJ1 from Hobkirks. All very strange making such a large purchase and never having seen the machine. My machine arrived so quickly, well packed and what an amazing machine. My experience with both Marcus and Linda has been exceptional. Linda has been so patient listening to and answering all my questions about this amazing beast of a machine. I can highly recommend Hobkirks and their service.
I bought my first sewing machine from Hobkirks in 1980. In the last couple of years I have bought two sewing machines, an embroidery machine and, now, two overlockers from them.
I wanted to upgrade my overlocker to one with auto tension and air threading. I spoke to Hobkirks. They offered me a very fair allowance for my existing overlocker against a new one.
I think the fact that after forty years I keep going back very probably speaks for itself. They offer an amazing choice of machines to suit every budget and always have a variety of pre-loved - and sometimes ex-demo machines - on offer. In addition to that they are super helpful. This time I dealt with Elaine who, as always, went to extraordinary lengths to ensure I was happy with my purchase.I highly recommend them to anybody who is the market for a sewing, embroidery, overlocker or coverstitch machine. In addition they have an incredible range of haberdashery and fabric. It’s a veritable treasure trove of goodies staffed by people who genuinely care that you get exactly what you want!
